Why organic discussion matters
A loud day is not automatically a suspicious one: Apple at 7.5× its normal on 3 Nov 2026 still read as organic. The reading separates “people are talking about this a lot” from “someone is making it look like people are talking about this”. It is the opposite of coordinated posting on the same scale, and the third step in how to tell if stock hype is real.
How stocksonar decides it
Five behaviour checks compare today’s posts with the same stock’s history: account age, text similarity, timing clusters, source concentration and amplification. No single check decides. Common confusions
- Organic is not true. Real people can repeat a wrong number. The reading describes how the conversation spread; the evidence card checks what it claims.
- Organic is not positive. The checks ignore tone. A wave of worried posts can be just as organic as an excited one.
- Confidence travels with the label. Costco on the same day was organic at low confidence: 26 posts, one platform with partial coverage. Small samples say less.
